This type of auction removed a layer of investment banks that traditionally underwrote the IPO process by setting the price, allocation, and marketing for their clients. Traditional IPOs utilized the underwriting bank as the central controller of the market (price and allocation) and as the marketer of the private organization to the potential investors. Googleââ¬â¢s Dutch-auction process allowed a greater range of investors to bid (and win) initial shares. While smaller companies had infrequently held this type of public offering, Googleââ¬â¢s auction was unprecedented in size.7 August 19, 2004, marked the initial public offering of GOOG on NASDAQ. Purpose and Value of Academic Research
Question: Discuss about thePurpose and Value of Academic Research. Answer: Any research is undertaken with the ulterior motive of discovering a new fact that can enlighten the people about the specific issue in future. It is undeniable that any private organization works with the motive of maximizing its profit, and hence the proper management of human capital is absolutely integral to the success of any organization. Keeping into consideration the importance of human capital, it can be understood that Human Resource Management plays an important role for the organizational success, and the specific research intend to evaluate the relation between HR management and organizational commitment (Ãâ¦Ã
¾endoÃâÃ
¸du, Kocabacak and Gven 2013). In order to discover and critically evaluate the relation between the HR management and organizational commitment, two different research methods have been employed- the Qualitative as well as the Quantitative method. While the Qualitative method has been used in order to gain an in-depth study of the topic at hand, the Quantitative method has been adopted for conducting a survey to statistically measure the general response of the managers of the organizations. Conducting a survey is an effective means of assessing the validity of the research problem (Smith 2015). Hence, although in the particular research, the survey is conducted only on the managers of various organizations, the survey should also have been focused on the employees. It should be remembered that Ontology is a study of being, and in order to acquire an understanding of the inherent relation existing between HR management and organizational commitment, the Qualitative research method is needed. It is only through gr oup discussions, interactive sessions, and in-depth study of the literary articles and journals, it is possible to understand the underlying social phenomenon that can explain the relation that exists between HR practices and organizational commitment. The employees of the chosen organizations should have been asked regarding the extent to which the HRM practices of their respective organizations have influenced their level of commitment, diligence and devotion towards the organization. In the present research, several significant research questions were being asked which are directly related to the research aim. The aim of the research is to discover the inherent relation existing between the HR practices of various sectors of organizations, and the increase in the commitment level of the employees. Keeping in consideration, the objectives of the research, the questions asked in the survey were being used to understand if there is any positive and direct relation between team activities, interaction facilities or increment in salary benefits offered by the HR, and the rise in the level of professional dedication among the employees. The literature review has helped to gather relevant information from important literary sources while the survey has been employed to test the hypothesis in accordance with the current situation in the organizations. In this way, the Positivist research philosophy is being used, which shows a scientific and objective method of analyzing the research problem (Nuttin 2014). However, in order to explain and understand the underlying reason behind the relation between effective HR practice and increase in the employee commitment, the Interpretivst philosophy could be adopted as well. The change in attitudes and beliefs of the employees with a changing HR practice could be understood by conducting personal, interactive sessions of interview with the a few employees of the chose organization (Saunders and Lewis 2015). The particular research has been conducted on various industries located in Konya, Turkey and thus as a result of having examined the research problem in the light of multiple organizations, it has been established as a fact that effective HR practices will always lead to increasing employee dedication. Starting with offering training to the necessary employees, enhancing their professional skills, HR plays an important role in motivating the employees, thereby increasing their productivity. This research throws much light on the importance of having an effective HR management team if an organization aims to ensure organizational success. The inspector play Essay Example For Students
The inspector play Essay Mr Birling was the up bringer of Evas Smiths untimely death. Eva smith worked for Mr Birling in his factory. When Eva Smith came to Mr Birling asking for a pay rise of a few shillings (226 to 25 shillings), he refused this as he wanted to keep labour costs down, after being deprived of a few shillings; she was then called a trouble maker and was fired just because of asking a few shillings more so she could live. Sheila was the second person to be blamed of Evas unfortunate death, just when Eva got a job at milwards after a while of unemployment, she had got fired due to jealousy and power, this was because Sheila thought that the hat her mother picked out for her to try on, looked better on Eva when she tried it on than on Sheila. This made Sheila furious, so she said Id never go near this place again if they didnt get rid of the girl. She new she had the power to get her fired so inevitably Eva got fired, but in the end she resented it and wished she could take it back. We will write a custom essay on The inspector play specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Mr Croft was the third person to hurt Eva Smith or Daisy Renton as he knew her. They first met in bar, Gerald saw her from a far where she stood out from everyone else she had soft brown big grey eyes and was extremely pretty, he went and talked to here and invited her back to a hotel, were they chatted a bit and had few drinks. Mr croft managed to get a bit out her and her life, she explains about her parents death and also unfortunate job less. She was very ambiguous and she didnt want to show that she was a little skint on money and was very hungry at the time. They met again a couple of days later and Gerald set her up with a flat, so she then became his mistress even though he had a girlfriend, Sheila which he kept secret from Daisy, but after a while he turned out Eva Smith back onto the streets with a little bit of money, she moved to the beach for a while to set her mind straight and go away from the grief and everything. Mr Croft undeniably chose society over Eva Smith. Mrs Birling was the fourth person and maybe the harshest to be blamed for the death of Eva Smith, as she was a charity group worker. Eva came to Mrs Birling pregnant and in need of great help she called herself Mrs Birling which made Sheila really angry and prejudiced and so never gave her any help just more grief, she alluded to her as very a girl of that sort. As Sybil belongs to an honourable charity group who were supposed to help people. However she uses this power to prevent the people she viewed unworthy and undesirable, help; for example Eva Smith, but when she finds out that the father of Evas child is her own son, she tried to protect him in everyway possible where as firstly she told Eva that he should be publically embarrassed she even thought that she was only doing this for money, she even could not see that her own son let alone needy people of the streets with no money and nothing to eat or wear needed help from his addiction on alcohol. And by this she never made it easier for her son Eric to explain his actions in Eva Smiths death and Eva doing the most she could was neglected. Eric plays the final part and the person to be blamed in Evas death. Eric Birling overpowered Eva while he was drunk one night, which carried on for quite a long time. This got Eva Smith pregnant when she told him that she was expecting a child to be born, he thought he could help her by giving her money, but when she found out that this was stolen money she refused him. .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda , .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .postImageUrl , .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda , .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda:hover , .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda:visited , .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda:active { border:0!important; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda:active , .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1632542058993b391d44afbcb5ab9dda:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Research Investigation: commedia dell'arte masks EssayHe thought that getting married could solve this problem but she knew he never really loved her so she couldnt get married with Eric. Just like his father he used his power to get what he wanted where as his father used mark of consent over her, hes contrite about the fact that all his family and family to be was involved in this really unfortunate suicide from Eva. Inspector Goole is a strange eerie person who brings out the truth from everybody. The word Goole can mean ghost, he makes Sheila and Eric see what they have done wrong but Mr and Mrs Birling tried to carry on as if nothing happened, as if the whole situation of showing them what they have done was just a bad nightmare. Hes supposed to represent Priestleys thoughts and ideas of the difference of the social inequalities. In my conclusion of this essay shows that even though inspector Goole had certain indifferences and a sort of unnatural sense to him, he managed to take the truth out at all of them, and making them feel guilty even though it might have been untrue with all the photos and evidence which he used to make them feel even more guilty and spite, which also made them confess everything, Sheila was the only person to feel sorry for what she had done but her parents just wanted to carry on with there normal lives as nothing had happened.

Write a few paragraphs about your Diversity Essay Example
Write a few paragraphs about your Diversity Essay My diversity as a person is very crucial to who I am of course. I seem to have this ability called consistency. I am able to replicate a certain action; this action is more of an ability. I am able to give 100% effort in everything I do. I have acquired this by seeing the results of my very own efforts leading me to success. I do not take on a project with giving my all. 2.à à à à à à à à What is your strategic plan for your future? Are you clear where you are heading? Personal and Professional. What are you focused on that might help you achieve your goals? What obstacles might be standing in your way? Self imposed or other obstacles? My Plans for the future could be described as complex. I have many goals, both long and short term.à I have had the luxury of being surrounded by great people throughout my life to direct me in the right direction and give great advice. I believe with a combination of this luxury and the determination that I have acquired through life and of course a little luck my goals will become reality. We will write a custom essay sample on Write a few paragraphs about your Diversity specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Write a few paragraphs about your Diversity specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Write a few paragraphs about your Diversity specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer My goal in life is to become an orthodontist, I have had a love for this profession since the age of 12. That is the main reason why I chose to come to Nova Southeastern University. With such a great dental and orthodontic graduate program, I thought it would be a great advantage to attend NSU from the undergraduate level.à I would like to finish my undergraduate career here at NSU with aà double major and a minor. I have a major in psychology and plan to get my second one in business administration and a minor in sociology.à The reason I chose to major in business administration is to help me grasp an understanding of how to run an orthodontist office from the business aspect.à This process should take me another 2 yearsà where I see myself graduated and starting my dental school. That process should then take another 2-3 years where then Ià can finally tackle on the orthodontist aspect of my schooling career. Another goal that I am working towards is being a basketball coach. basketball is a very important aspect of my life. I have been playing since the age of 6 and I currently play for theà basketball at NSU. I would love to play at the professional level overseas. but that is more a dream than a goal. Since basketball has always been a big part of my life Ià do not see myself moving away from it. When my playing days are over I still plan to have basketballà a part of my life and I plan to do that by coaching. I have started by coaching middle school/high school kids. I am also deeply involved in my team. Our team is aà group of handpicked kids who are chosen to compete around the United States. I plan to stick with this team as they continue to grow as students of the game. My personal goals are probably where it gets a little hectic. I have a goal to have a family in the future but as far as when and who I want to settle down with is still a mystery. I am very family orie nted even more so after the passing of my mother. I find myself (being the oldest of 13 children) playing a big role in my family. I see myself as big brother, father, mentor for many if not all my siblings. With that being said, it is not that I dont want to have my own family I just see so many greatà quality in my own family that I am a bit picky about who my significant other will be. I feel that I have a lot of different paths in life to become something in this world. At times it is overwhelming but I try to always look at the big picture and use my mother and family as motivation to try to better myself as a person. So far I feel happy with my accomplishments but by no means do i feel complacent. I still have far much to accomplish. 3. à à à à à à à Whatà compliance systems do you have to conform to? Parental, family, obligations, school, legal, work etc. I have many compliance systems to conform to, everyone does. Some individuals conform better than others and those who have the ability or better yet the will to do so have better success in life. Conforming is only good if it is bettering that individual or the situation a person is in. For example: to conform with a group of trouble makers would not necessarily be the right thing to do but in theà case for family, school and work for the most part leads you to success. 4.à à à à à à à à What is your vision for your career? How do you see yourself being involved in work in the future? How will you achieve work life balance? What are the challenges today and as you anticipate the aging process? I hardly have a career in a technical sense; I am still in the preparation stageà of my career which in this case is obviously school. à In the future I plan to run my own orthodontist office. à As far as coaching, I plan to take that day by day.à I see this as more of my fun time than a career but I do understand ifà I do a well enough job I could make it a career.à I think the career of an orthodontist is something I can do for a while. I see thatà me aging will not affect me much. I can see myself engaged in my work for 20+ years. 5.à à à à à à à à Do you see yourself Changing careers in the future years? do you think you will stay in the same industry. Like I mentioned in the last question, I see myself doing this for 20+ years until ià retire. If I were to change my profession it would probably be to coach basketball fulltime. 6. à à à à à à à What training and development plans do you have for yourself? Past, present, and future? The training being done for my future wouldà be going to school to be an orthodontist. And as for coaching, I think by continuing coachingà my team and attending coaching clinics I will gain the experience needed to flourish as a coach. 7. à à à à à à à à How motivated are you? What is your attitude to life and work? How would you appraise your performance to date in your family system, at work, at school, with friends? I would like to believe that I am a very motivated person. Thisà has not always been the case; prior to my mothers death I was a very passive person with a minimal list of goals. I seem to have found motivation in my mothers death. I was an ignorant person who did not realize what he had for a mother. I useà the fact that I do not want to feelà that all my mothers dedicationà to me and my life could go to no avail if I do not make the most of my life. It has become a way of life for me to hear my mothers voice in my head when I know I am not giving my 100% or not making the best decision.à à Doing things with 100% effort,à 100% of time is my motto after the passing of my mother. Her death has showed me that there is nothingguaranteed in life.à So not knowing when my last day on earth may be, I try my hardest in every aspect of my life 8.à à à à à à à à What plans do you have for money management? Do you understand the value of money? Being a college student, money management is a very important value or concept to grasp. I feel that to a certain degree I understand this concept. I have a system where 30% of my monthly earnings are put into a savings account just in case for one of thoseà so called rainy days. With the way the economy is these days and the amount of jobs being lost, it is needed to have a savings. There is no telling when aà job could be lost and even worse there is no telling when a new one will be available. 9. à à à à à à à What is your self worth? How much do you think you are worth in the market place? Do you think your value will increase with experience? How will you know when you have arrived? Measuring self worth is a tough task. There is no concrete way to measureà self worth, what I feel of myself is not necessary what its true measure it.à The closest way to get a true value ofà evaluate ones determination effort and combine that with his or hers success. So if that is what we are going to go by to determineà self worth then I would say mine is very high. In everything I do in life is with maximum effort and I have a high level success. For example,à the team that I currently coach I put in more effort and go beyond the call. I work after practice with some of myà players and even have film sessions to better not only my playersà but as well myself. I Like to be the best at everything I do, knowing that this is not always the case, I always want to be the one who can say I tried my best and put all I had into this project.à As far as my worth in the future, It is only logical to believe that myself worth will continue to grow. 10. à à à à à How self disciplined are you? Discipline is something that was instilled in me from an early age. I took martial arts from the ageà 6 to 15 and that is something that is highly stressed.à Discipline and consistency go hand-n-hand. If one shows consistency then he or she is a discipline. In the world of business today these two traits can make or break a persons career. 11.à à à à à à What do you do to ensure that you remain healthy? exercise, good nutrition relaxation? Staying healthy is something that has to be done when playing athletics at the college level. We as a team have a nutritionist who looks after what we eat. We report to her weekly with a list of what we have consumed during the week. We also as a team take yoga, which is very relaxing. 12. à à à à à à How well do you manage your personal and professional boundaries? Are you a good time manager? Do you keep your word? Are you responsible? Do you let other people down? Do you speak up when someone hurts you? Are you alwaysà to please others? Do you know how to say no? I as a person I try to not to tell people how to their jobs or howà to handle their situations. I do give advice if asked but I respect peoples boundaries by not putting my input if asked. Of course if I was in the position where I had to tell people what their job is (i.e. basketball coach: telling his players what to do.)à then I can, that is how I manage boundaries both personal and professional. With school, sports, and work time management is a crucial skill to have and I believe that I have acquired this skill.à Days do not seem long enough as it is to get everything, so time management is what helps me be successful. In this world sometimes all a person has his/her word, so keeping ones word is very imperative. At every level this plays a vital role, personal and professional. With this understanding I try to keep my word. I have a high success rate with this, but there are times where unexpectedà adversity arises that allow me to keep my promises. I see this as failure where others see it as an excuse or a reason. I, in these certain situations, do not look at the excuse or reason on why I could not complete what I said Ià would but plainly see it as a mission not accomplished. letting people down is not an option for me. My parents, who are my biggest role models, never let me down; I try to duplicate this by demonstrating the same. People depend on others to get certain actions done so they can continue to do their work; I do not want that type of guilt on my shoulders. I eliminate thatà byà pleasing others and not letting them down. I am a very honest and when someone does an action that bothers/hurts me I bring it up. I at the same time I am not controversial but I feel that if such things areà not fixed they can later grow into a bigger problem. 13. à à à à à Do youà have good negotiation skills? What your decision making abilities? Do you have a good sense of judgment? Does your judgment protect you or get you into trouble? 14.à à à à à à What kind of team player are you? The type of team player that I am is a motivator. I pretty much do not stand out when everything is going well, but when times of hardship seem to make their appearances I seem to shine. I have a great ability to bring people together in these times and prevail over many difficult circumstances. 15.à à à à à à Do you have knowledge and experience outside of South Florida? How does that influence your perception of international HR management and of people who are different from you here in South Florida? Do you have aspirations to travel and or work outside of Florida or the United States? If so, what do you think you will have to learn in order to be a competent employee? The only experience outside South Florida is playing basketball. I feelà that that experience has little to no influence on how I perceive HR at the international level. As far as working outside of Floridaà I do not foreseeà that as a possibility as of now. That is not to say that I will not in the future. Abstract In this paper I will discuss my strengths and weaknesses and how they will pertain to the business world and many different HR policies.

The Effect Exercise On Heart R essays
The Effect Exercise On Heart R essays Aim: To investigate how exercise affects heart rate. Introduction: The heart is rate is how many times the heartbeats in a certain period, normally a minute; this gives the unit bpm (beats per minute). During rest, the heart beats about 70 times a minute in the adult male, while pumping about 5 litres of blood. The heart rate is affected by many things these included; Heat Rate The body senses the need for an increased pulse rate through two main mechanisms. The first is a series of baroreceptors (these are specialized cells that can sense the pressure of the blood). These cells are in the carotid sinus. The carotid arteries are the major blood vessels that feed your brain; there is one artery on each side of your head. The baroreceptors in the carotid sinus can tell when the blood pressure is low (thus, not enough blood is making it to the brain). They then send signals over nerves to the heart, telling it to speed up and contract more forcefully. This raises blood pressure. Since the brain is the most important organ, it makes sense that these baroreceptors are in the blood vessels feeding the brain. The second major way is by our brains sensing danger or excitement and telling the heart to speed up. This is called the fight or flight response. If we see some danger (like a saber-toothed tiger) approaching us, our brains get excited and tell the heart to speed up so we will have enough blood flow to allow us to run away. In addition to the nerves that transmit signals from the brain to the heart, some nerves go to the adrenal glands and tell them to secrete adrenaline, a hormone that makes the heart go faster. This way, if there is a problem with the nerves from the brain to the heart, the message to the heart can still get there by way of the adrenal glands (which are located right next to your kidneys). The adrenal glands stimulate the heart by making adrenaline. I predict the harder the subject exercises, th...

THE COMPARISON OF CONTRAST MEAD AND BOURDIEU THEORIES Essay
THE COMPARISON OF CONTRAST MEAD AND BOURDIEU THEORIES - Essay Example Perceiving a house is same as to perceive shelter. That is why it is concluded that perception is the action plans that individual takes (Baldwin, 90-91). Meadââ¬â¢s society based on an open society of open selves, (Herbert, pp 6). His theories are synthesis of German idealism which states that, the selfââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"perception and semanticsââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ and "a common practice of various subjects" (Baldwin, 203-205) found particularly in social brushes., Meadââ¬â¢s self states to be significantly knitted within a sociological presence: For Mead, existence in community lies before individual awareness. Mead focused that all human beings including men and women start their apprehension of the social world through "play" and "game". "Play" lies prior in the childs development and growth (Baldwin, pp. 23-31). The self-development is dependent on learning in order to capture the role of other. Therefore, a child can play different actions he notices in "adult" society, and performs them out to take an understanding of the various social roles. Moreover, it is simply the matter that, what others do. Every step is a learning step that starts from imitation through play acting world of children. Whereas, Pierre Bourdie was a famous French sociologist born on first august 1930.his work provide the framework for social and symbolic violence that enables the dynamics to reveal the human power connections in our social life.
